Strictly, it’s not a powered-up, hard-core model in the vein of, say, a Nissan Skyline V-Spec (though wouldn’t that be wonderful?), but a special edition to celebrate the Ghost’s fifth birthday. So don’t expect to see this Ghost hauling itself around the Nurburgring Nordschleife in the near future.

It will soon be replaced by an all-new – and much larger – third-generation MINI Hatch, which was launched to the press and public at the Oxford Plant on 18 November 2013. But Land Rover made it clear that the DC100 is a work in progress, and that they were looking for feedback as the quest to replace the Defender with a 21st version gathers speed over the coming years.
